The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Stroke service is seeking expressions of interest for a Stroke Fellowship at RBWH for 2018.
The role involves improving access to and timely assessment for acute stroke reperfusion therapies, specifically thrombolysis and endovascular clot retrieval. Inpatient and outpatient management of stroke will also be involved.
The successful applicant would be a post-core training Neurology registrar seeking to improve their knowledge and skills in the field of stroke within a tertiary and quaternary referral service with a view to pursuing a career as a Stroke Neurologist. The RBWH is affiliated with the University of Queensland and informal links with the university or research higher degree enrolment would be optional.
RBWH is the primary referral centre for ECR for a population catchment of over 1 million people. Our service continues to grow with incomplete access for even HERMES-eligible patients. We are actively involved in stroke education and research, ranging from single-centre investigator-initiated research to participation in multicentre Australian-led research, and international collaborative studies. The RBWH Stroke Fellow would be invited to participate in all clinical and research activities of the RBWH Stroke service.
